After oil spill: What’s on the bottom? Are we funding research?

This AP story (Yay, my former employer!) adds lotta detail on the condition of the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. A pretty grubby place, even in the best of times. Story mentions that a great deal of oil naturally seeps up and collects on the bottom, even without oil spills from human hands.

Now they have to do DNA or other scientific tracing to see where the oil in their core samples originated — with the BP oil disaster, or normal processes.

Meanwhile, here’s video of Naomi Klein worrying that the research is not getting funds. This must be fixed.
