Wisdom from the book pages: What the left should do

Fareed Zakaria’s 34-word slogan for the left:

The left can govern only if it shows that it is ceaselessly determined to reform the public sector, be a good steward of the people’s money and understand the needs of the middle class.


This is in a book review of Tony Blair’s memoir, “A Journey.” You’ll find it in the next-to-last paragraph. It leaves out the needs of poorer people, but otherwise says a lot.
